Hiccups

Brevity is
the soul of wit, and perhaps
that’s because it’s so much smarter
to wait
for more information
before
you open your own mouth.
Foolish things tumble out
before your tongue can
catch them,
put them back,
unsay them
before
they’re said.
I know I know I know I know
I know
I am made of words
but perhaps
sometimes I should be made
of silence.

About Catastrophe Jones

Wretched word-goblin with enough interests that they're not particularly awesome at any of them. Terrible self-esteem and yet prone to hilarious bouts of hubris. Full of the worst flavors of self-awareness. Owns far too many craft supplies. Will sing to you at the slightest provocation.
