How Can The Heart

Stagger on
like some hard-won racer
still running,
still moving
long after the tape has been broken
by a heaving-breast champion,
a contestant begging for a match,
crying for an equal,
screaming for a connection.

How can it know
when it is not yet time to give up?

How can it know
when it is?

About Catastrophe Jones

Wretched word-goblin with enough interests that they're not particularly awesome at any of them. Terrible self-esteem and yet prone to hilarious bouts of hubris. Full of the worst flavors of self-awareness. Owns far too many craft supplies. Will sing to you at the slightest provocation.
