100 words: Proclamation

If I thought
for one moment
you would betray me,
I would cut you off
and leave you to rot,
to fester and tear open
under the weight
of your bloated hubris.

If I thought
for an instant
you couldn’t be trusted,
I would slit you open
from tongue to touché,
letting your spoiled innards
hit the floor
to steam at the feet
of everyone coming after you,
to serve as a warning
to my worshippers:

never lie,
never cheat,
never steal.

Even the thought of it
will be enough
to not only cast you out,
but let you burn.

About Catastrophe Jones

Wretched word-goblin with enough interests that they're not particularly awesome at any of them. Terrible self-esteem and yet prone to hilarious bouts of hubris. Full of the worst flavors of self-awareness. Owns far too many craft supplies. Will sing to you at the slightest provocation.
