Just Because You’re A

No, no, if I were brave
I would have told you I loved you
when you first gave me the chance.
Instead, I babbled something about similar skies
and perspective.
You were the brave one.
For example, you told me
how much you loved her,
even though you knew it hurt me.
That takes guts.
I could never quite understand why
I pursued people I couldn’t have,
but I learned at some point
that I would not possess you,
and so I gave up,
gave you up,
and left you
to someone with more tenacity,
or maybe it was just cleavage.

About Catastrophe Jones

Wretched word-goblin with enough interests that they're not particularly awesome at any of them. Terrible self-esteem and yet prone to hilarious bouts of hubris. Full of the worst flavors of self-awareness. Owns far too many craft supplies. Will sing to you at the slightest provocation.
